New Feature - Barcode Fields

We're pleased to announce that FormTab now includes a new Barcode field type, which allows the scanning and reading of Barcodes directly in FormTab on iOS. In addition to common barcodes, FormTab's Barcode field also supports QR Codes.

In this article we'll give you a brief introduction to using Barcodes in your forms.

1. Adding Barcode fields to your form

FormTab's new Barcode field is available to all users. You'll find it in the Form Builder under Media in the field list.

Click or drag the field to your form - and that's it! There are no additional settings or configuration required.

2. Scanning Barcodes on your iOS device

When using FormTab on iOS, tap the Barcode Field to open the Scanner. The app will automatically detect a valid barcode/QR Code and highlight it on-screen.

If the app can't recognise the barcode, there is a manual option to allow for entering the barcode number via the keyboard.

3. Using Barcodes with web forms

When filling in a web form that contains a barcode field, you will need to enter the number via the keyboard.

However if your computer has a Barcode Scanner connected you should be able to scan the code using this.
