Using the Date Field

FormTab Date fields allow you to capture date and/or time values in your forms quickly and easily.

When combined with Calculations, Date fields are even more powerful, giving you the ability to create formulas that dynamically update based on the dates you enter.

1. Adding Date fields to your form

The Date field is found in the Basic section in the FormTab Form Builder's field list. Click or drag the field to add it to your form.

 To change the field name, double click the existing label and type your new name.

For a standard Date field there is no additional configuration required. If you would like to view more options, click the Gear  button to open the settings panel.

 

Time Fields

To capture time values, tick 'Show Time' in the Date field options.

When 'Show Time' is selected a new option appears which allows you to choose how minute intervals are displayed in the iOS app - 1, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minute increments.

This is useful if you want greater control over how time is recorded. For example in a time sheet form you may want times recorded in 15 minute increments.

 

2. Selecting Dates on your iOS device

When using FormTab on iOS, tap a Date field to open the date/time picker. It will be configured using the options defined in the Form Builder.

3. Selecting Dates using web forms

When filling in a webform that contains a Date field, simply click the field topen the date picker.

If the field has been configured to Show Time, after clicking a date, the date picker will show options for selecting a time.

4. Using Date fields with Calculations

Calculations allow you to define formulas that run within your form. Timeframe calculations allow you to calculate the difference between two Date/Time fields and display the result in a variety of formats. In addition, the result of these calculations can be used in other calculations allowing you to build up advanced functionality in your form.
